Visiting George in Delft

I’ve been to the Netherlands before, but only to Amsterdam and the north. Like most people the only thing I knew about Delft until recently was that a famous type of china originated from there. That was before George moved to the city to slave away on a project for an international company. Following the good reports he gave us of his new temporary home (to encourage his pals to visit), a few of us headed up to South Holland to enjoy the two pleasures of discovering a new city and catching up with an old friend.
George’s descriptions were accurate and we were all pleasantly surprised. Delft is basically a smaller version of Amsterdam. Its center is at least as lovely. Actually, I think it’s even more so. George had been super at organizing a hotel for us (we stayed at the Best Western Museumhotels Delft) and dinners at two very recommendable restaurants: Friday we enjoyed lots of fish at the Spijshuis de Dis and Saturday we tucked into a 4-course dinner at “De Proeverij” in Stadscafe De Waag.
